Unlocking Instructions for Most Phones

Insert the sim card you want to use the phone with. The phone will prompt you for a code. Enter the code and the phone will be unlocked. If the phone does not prompt you for a code then please search the page below for instructions for your brand or model.

AT&T iPhone Unlock Instructions

1. Install latest version of iTunes
2. Connect phone to iTunes with not accepted (Not an AT & T) simcard
3 Wait until iTunes detect phone
4. Now disconnect phone and reconnect after 10 seconds.
5. Messages in iTunes: "Unlock Complete. Congratulation."

Back up your iPhone:

Back up your iPhone.

Erase the contents of your iPhone.

Swap the old SIM card with the one for the new carrier.

Complete the setup assistant and restore your backup.

Notice: If the phone shows '0' tries remaining, your phone has already been hardlocked and cannot be unlocked by code. Even if you correctly enter the code your phone will still say "Code Error, Please Wait...".

If your phone shows '10' tries remaining every time you enter the code and you get a code error it means your phone is already unlocked.

How to unlock BlackBerry Curve 8900 phone:

Power on With Activated GSM Sim Card

1. Scroll to and select the Manage Connections icon.
2. Select Turn All Connections Off.
Press the red End key
3. Scroll to and select the Settings icon
4. Scroll to and select the Options icon
5. Scroll to and select Advanced Options
6. Scroll to and select SIM Card
7. Type MEPD Note: When Typing in MEPD the letters will not appear on the screen. This step opens up the personalization on the device. Notice under Network, it will say Active.
8. Type MEP2 (For ??, press the ALT key then 2)
Note: When Typing in MEP2 the letters will not appear on the screen.
9. Notice the Enter Network MEP code box.
Enter the Unlock code
Press the Trackball or Enter key (once one of these keys is pressed the device should display "Code Accepted".

Unlocking Instructions for BlackBerry Curve 8530 (Gemini)

How to Unlock BlackBerry Curve 8530: (Gemini)

1. Power ON your BlackBerry Curve 8530 (Gemini) with any SIM Card.
2. Scroll and select Manage Connections.
3. Select Turn All Connections OFF.
4. Press Escape to go back to the Home Screen.
5. Go to Options menu and select Advanced Options.
6. Click on SIM Card.
7. Click on Show keyboard.
8. Hold the ALT key while typing MEPD. You will not see text appear on screen while typing. This opens up a personalization menu.
9. Hold the ALT key while typing MEP2. You will not see text appear on screen while typing.
10. Press ALT and 2 simultaneously to get number 2.
11. You should be presented with a prompt Enter Network MEP Code.
12. Enter Unlock Code.
13. After entering the code press the Trackball once.
14. Restart your BlackBerry Curve 8530 (Gemini) and restore connections by following the first two steps.
15. Your BlackBerry Curve 8530 (Gemini) is now Unlocked.

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry Bold (9000), 8800, 8820, Curve (8300, 8310, 8320), Gemini (8520, 9300), & Onyx (9700):

Note: NO SIM is needed to unlock the phone. After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT and press: mep2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
7) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

How to Unlock BlackBerry 9780

1. Insert accepted (carrier) SIM card
2. Power on the handset (wireless option should be off)
3. Scroll to Options and press the trackpad
4. Scroll to Device
5. Select Advanced System Settings
6. Scroll to SIM Card and press the trackpad
7. Type MEPD (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)
8. Type MEP2 (2 is alt + E)
9. You should be presented with a prompt "Enter Network MEP Code".
10. Type in the unlockcode
11. Press the Enter Key
"Code Accepted!"
12. Device is unlocked!

How to unlock AT&T BlackBerry Torch 9800 phone:

a)
- Put an not accepted simcard in your phone and turn it on.
- The phone will ask if you want to enter an unlock code (aka MEP Code)
- Click Yes- Enter the unlock code and press enter
- Phone is now UNLOCKED!
- Go to "Manage Connections" and turn Mobile network on

b)
1. Go to Options -> Device
2. Select advanced system settings => and then Sim card
3. Type MEPD using your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)
4. Type MEP then [ALT BUTTON] then 2 on your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)
5. You should be presented with a prompt "Enter Network MEP Code". Type in the unlock code and press in the track wheel / jog dial to confirm Your BlackBerry Torch 9800 phone is now successfully unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for Rogers 9800 Torch:

Must be done without a sim card inserted & wireless radio must be turned off. To turn off the wireless radio, Scroll to and select the Manage Connections icon. Select Turn All Connections Off. Press the red End key. Make sure the phone is not displaying the low battery warning!

There are 2 ways that you can unlock the phone:

To unlock BlackBerry Torch 9800 phone:

a)
- Put an not accepted simcard in your phone and turn it on.
- The phone will ask if you want to enter an unlock code (aka MEP Code)
- Click Yes- Enter the unlock code and press enter
- Phone is now UNLOCKED!
- Go to "Manage Connections" and turn Mobile network on

b)
1. Go to Options -> Device
2. Select advanced system settings => and then Sim card

Phone Unlock Instructions for Bell Canada 9700 (Bold 2 Onyx):

Note: You must have a SIM card in your phone to complete these steps, I have found that this procedure works best with an Telus Sim card in the phone (can be active or inactive ). Make sure the phone is not displaying the low battery warning!

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT and press: mep2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
7) It will ask you for the mep2 code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm.
8) After getting message 'Code Accepted', HOLD ALT and press the following: mep4 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
9 It will ask you for the mep4 code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm. You phone is now unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for Telus Canada 9700 (Bold 2 Onyx):

Note: You must have a SIM card in your phone to complete these steps, I have found that this procedure works best with an Telus Sim card in the phone (can be active or inactive ). Make sure the phone is not displaying the low battery warning!

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT and press: mep4 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
7) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry Pearl (8100, 8110, 8120, 8220):

Note: Remove any SIM that is currently in the phone. After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT (Left side Below @) and press: mepp2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
7) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry 8830:

Notice: If the phone shows '0' tries remaining, your phone has already been hardlocked and cannot be unlocked by code. Even if you correctly enter the code your phone will still say "Code Error, Please Wait...".

SIM is REQUIRED to unlock the phone. SIM card can be inactive, it does not need to be activated. After your phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert the SIM card you want to use and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

AT&T and T-Mobile WILL NOT work: This is a dual-band phone, it WILL NOT work in North America but will work fine in Europe, Asia, South America, and anywhere else where they use the other set of frequencies.

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT and press: mep2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
7) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry 8700/8700c/8700g:

Note: SIM is REQUIRED to unlock the phone. SIM card can be inactive, doesn't need to active. After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT and press: mepe (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
6) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press jog dial to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry 7105t:

Note: SIM is REQUIRED to unlock the phone. SIM card can be inactive, doesn't need to active. After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

1) Power phone on and turn off the radio (Turn Wireless Off option)
2) Go to Tools
3) Go to Settings
4) Go to Options and select Advanced Options
5) Go to SIM Card
6) Type "MEPPD" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen)
7) HOLD ALT and press mepp2
8) Enter the Unlock Code
9) Press enter (press on Trackball)
10) Reboot device. Device is now unlocked

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry 7100/7130/7130c:

Note: Remove any SIM that is currently in the phone. After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

1) Power on
2) Go to Settings
3) Go to Options
4) Go to Advanced Options
5) Go to Sim Card
6) HOLD ALT (Left side Below @) and press: mepp2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
7) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

BlackBerry 7290 Unlock Code Instructions:

1 - Switch ON your Blackberry 7290 with your current network/service provider's SIM card.
2 - Using the menu go to Settings Menu -> SIM card and press select.
3 - While holding the SHIFT key, type mepd.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mepd)
4 - You should now see the five locking categories listed.
5 - While holding the SHIFT KEY, type mep2.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mep2).
6 - Release the shift key.
7 - You will now be prompted to enter the Network MEP code. (it will also state how many attempts left)
8 - Enter the Unlock Code.
9 - Enter Return/Enter.
10 - The Blackberry 7290 should then be unlocked.

Phone Unlock Instructions for Blackberry 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx (Except for 7100):

Note: After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery. Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.
1) Power on
2) Go to Options.
3) Scroll to SIM CARD then press jog dial in once to select it
4) HOLD ALT (Half moon key on the lower left side) and press: mepe (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
5) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press jog dial once to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for Blackberry Vodafone Storm (9500):

1) Turn off the phone
2) Need a SIM card inserted into the phone (Example: Verizon, At&t, T-mobile)
3) Turn on the phone
4) Go to Settings (Button that has dots next to green call button), Click on Manage Connections, Select 'Turn All Connections Off'
5) Press End Call (Red button)
6) Go to Settings, then Options, then Advanced Options, then SIM Card
7) Hit the Settings Button (Button that has dots next to green call button) and select 'Show Keyboard'
8) Type in mepd (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
9) Type in mep2 or mepp2 and another screen will pop-up prompting for the MEP code (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
10) Enter the code, Remember you ONLY have 10 chances to get it right
11) Press enter and your phone is unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry Storm or Storm 2 (9530, 9550):

1) Turn off the phone
2) Need a SIM card inserted into the phone (Example: Verizon, At&t, T-mobile)
For Unlocking Storm 2: Try the unlock process with a SIM card besides Verizon
3) Turn on the phone
4) Go to Settings (Button that has dots next to green call button), Click on Manage Connections, Select 'Turn All Connections Off'
5) Press End Call (Red button)
6) Inside Settings menu, Click Options, then Mobile Network, on the switch technology to 'Global' if that has not been done.
Exception: If phone prompts 'Would you like your Blackberry to automatically select CDMA or GSM based on network availability', select No.
7) Now click the Back Arrow Button (Next to the Red End Call button) and select Advanced Options and then SIM Card
8) Hit the Settings Button (Button that has dots next to green call button) and select 'Show Keyboard'
9) Type in mep2 or mepp2 and another screen will pop-up prompting for the MEP code (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
Exception: If nothing is prompting up and you are making sure you are selecting each button by press the screen in, do a wipe handheld to reset the phone to manufacturer default: http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=110075
10) Enter the code, Remember you ONLY have 10 chances to get it right
Exception: If phone says Code Error and the attempts stay the same, start off with 10 attempts and still says 10 attempts after enter code, then continue with instructions, this is a glitch on the phone
11) Press the Enter key (Button that looks like a backwards L arrow)
12) A message will appear saying Code Accepted
13) Turn device off by removing battery, insert SIM of your choice if have not done so already. Turning device is necessary even if you have SIM of choice inserted.
14) Turn the phone back on
15) Go to Settings, then Options, then Mobile Network, on the third row switch Network Technology to GSM/UMTS.
16) Press the Back Arrow Button to exit and save settings.
17) Return to the main screen by pressing End Call and you should see your phone getting signal
18) As a reminder, if you ever remove the SIM card from your phone, you will need to set the Network Technology as GSM/UMTS again

Issues:
1) If you have issues with the phone not recognizing the network, make sure the radio is on by making sure it is not low on power.
2) If you follow the above instructions and code is accepted with the Network Technology set to GSM/UMTS and still not working, it may be the SIM needs to be replaced with a newer SIM Card.

Removing "Activation Required" on the screen or changing the Phone Number:
1) On the main screen of the phone, press Call (Green Button)
2) Type on the screen: ##000000
3) Press the Call Button
4) For the Mobile Directory Number, put in your phone number in there
5) After you have done that, press the Menu Button to Save the options and the phone will automatically restart
6) After restarting, it will be updated

Phone Unlock Instructions for BlackBerry Tour (9630):

1) Turn off the phone
2) Need a SIM card inserted into the phone (Example: Verizon, At&t, T-mobile)
3) Turn on the phone
4) Go to Settings
5) Go to Options
6) Go to Advanced Options
7) Go to Sim Card
8) HOLD ALT and press: mep2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen)
9) Enter the code, Remember you ONLY have 10 chances to get it right
10) Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!
11) A message will appear saying Code Accepted
12) Turn device off by removing battery, insert SIM of your choice if have not done so already. Turning device is necessary even if you have SIM of choice inserted.
13) Turn the phone back on
14) Go to Settings, then Manage Connections, then Mobile Network Options and set the Network Technology to GSM/UMTS.
15) Set Network Mode to 3G & 2G.
16) Press the Back Arrow Button once to exit and save settings.
17) Inside the Manage Connections, set Mobile Network to on.
18) Return to the main screen by pressing End Call and you should see your phone getting signal
19) As a reminder, if you ever remove the SIM card from your phone, you will need to set the Network Technology as GSM/UMTS again

Issues:

How to Enter MSL Code on Sprint BlackBerry Tour (9630):

1) From the mainscreen of the BlackBerry, press the green call button to enter the phone
2) Type in ##MSLCODE then the green talk button (ie: ##123456 Green talk button)
3) In the CDMA service edit screen, delete the number in the first row (000000xxxx) and replace it with your current phone number
4) Press the menu key and choose save
5) The device will re-boot
6) When the device re-boots, Activation Required will be gone and the active carrier name will now appear

Blackberry 9650 Unlocking Instructions

Note:

NO SIM is needed to unlock the phone.

After phone is unlocked, remove the battery, insert SIM as desired and re-insert the battery.

Phone MUST be restarted to use the new SIM card.

1) Power on

2) Go to Settings

3) Go to Options

4) Go to Advanced Options

5) Go to Sim Card

6) HOLD ALT and press: mep2 (Please note that you will NOT see what you type on the screen) *

7) It will ask you for the unlock code. Enter it and then press trackball to confirm and your phone is unlocked!

* If your phone is a 9700 or 9000 that requires a second code (ie.Bell), please repeat until step 6 and press mep4 to enter the second code.

* Put your phone into GSM mode first, then when you press mepd, you will get a prompt

9650 Troubleshooting for signal issues:

1. Go to Settings, then Manage Connections, then Mobile Network Options and set the Network Technology to GSM/UMTS

2. Set Network Mode to 3G & 2G.
3. Press the Back Arrow Button once to exit and save settings.
4. Inside the Manage Connections, set Mobile Network to on.
5. Return to the main screen by pressing End Call and you should see your phone getting signal
6. As a reminder, if you ever remove the SIM card from your phone, you will need to set the Network Technology as GSM/UMTS again

How to Unlock BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930

Ensure a SIM Card is inserted
Go to "Manage Connections"
Click on "Turn All Connections Off"
Go to "Options"
Click on "Device"
Click on "Advanced System Settings"
Click on "SIM Card"
Type "MEPD"(NOTE: you might need to type in caps, also letters will not appear on-screen but you will be presented with personalization screen, that will display 5 locks such as network, service provider etc)
Type "MEP2" (make sure to hold ALT for 2) or hold ALT and type MEPE (NOTE: user will be prompted to enter MEP code)
Enter the MEP2 code numbers only (CONFIRM you get "Code Accepted" message)
- *If you also have a MEP4 code, type "MEP4" (you will be prompted to enter MEP code)
- Enter the MEP4 code (CONFIRM you get "Code Accepted" message)
Reboot device by pulling battery out
Go to "Manage Connections"/li>
Click on "Restore Connections"/li>
Device is now unlocked

Verizon phones only: You might need to remove "Activation Required" on the screen or change the Phone Number to yours by following steps below:

Press Call (Green Button) as you would to place a call
Type on the screen: ##000000
Press the Call Button
You will be prompted to the screen with the phone number, change existing phone number to yours
Press the Menu Button to Save the options and the phone will automatically restart
After restarting, it will be updated

HP Unlock Instructions

Phone Unlock Instructions for HP Glisten 3G, 6500, 6510, 6515, 6945, HW6510, HW6515, HW6920, HW6925:

1) Insert NON Cingular SIM into device
2) Power on the device
- Wait approximately 30 seconds until the SimLock application appears (the delay may be longer if the user has already attempted an unlock with the wrong code)
3) Enter the unlock code in the blank field
4) Press Ok
- If the unlock code is incorrect, an error dialog will appear. After pressing Ok on this dialog, the user has to re-enter the unlock code after delays (see above in Device Specific Information)
- If the unlock code is correct, a success dialog will appear.
5) Press Ok

HTC Unlock Instructions

HTC Inspire 4G Unlocking Instructions

1. Insert a not accepted SIM Card and turn ON your AT&T HTC Inspire 4G.

2. Your AT&T HTC Inspire 4G should show "Enter Special or Subsidy Code".

3. Enter the Unlock code

4. Your AT&T HTC Inspire 4G phone is now successfully unlocked!

Unlocking Instructions for T-Mobile MyTouch 4G

How to Unlock T-Mobile myTouch 4G:

Insert a not accepted SIM Card and turn ON your T-Mobile MyTouch 4G.

A dialogue screen will prompt you to enter the Unlock CODE.

The box will say:
Title: Special Code Required
Dialog: Enter Code to enable SIM
Box for Code: 1-8 digits
Options: Enable or Cancel
In the upper right corner, the SIM is flashing where the signal strength should be. On entering the Unlock CODE, a dialog box comes up saying "Authenticating Code".
In case you see the "Waiting for Activation Screen", hit the Menu key and the letter L key at the same time. The menu key is the top left key. By doing this, the waiting screen will go away and you will be able to make calls. For best results, hold down Menu and the L key until the Waiting for Activation screen disappears.

Your T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is now unlocked!

OR

Insert a not accepted SIM Card and turn ON your T-Mobile MyTouch 4G.

Your T-Mobile MyTouch 4G will prompt for Unlock CODE.

Enter UNLOCK CODE.

Your T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is now unlocked!

Phone Unlock Instructions for G1, G2, 2125, 3125, 8100, 8125, 8525, 8925 (Tilt), P4600 (Fuze), Dash, Dash 3G, Wing, Shadow, Excalibur 100, MDA, SDA, Touch Pro 2 (TP2), myTouch 3G, Magic:

How to obtain IMEI for Verizon HTC?

Follow the following direction:

1. Start>Settings>Phone> Networks

. Change from Global to GSM only.

3. Go back to the home screen.

1) Power on

Error Message: "The SIM Lock has NOT been removed from this phone"
Solution 1: Please make sure you are entering the correct code and enter it using this method *#*#CODE# dial
Solution 2: If the phone says that the SIM lock has not been removed, ensure that the phone radio (wireless mode) is on.

If still having the error message "The SIM Lock has NOT been removed from this phone," the phone is likely refurbished and cannot unlock by code. 1) Insert a SIM card from a different network provider and turn on the Sidekick. A dialog screen comes up, prompting you for the code.

2) The box will say:

3) In the upper right hand corner, the SIM is flashing where the signal strength should be. On entering the code, a dialog box comes up saying authenticating code. It's unlocked. Enjoy.
In case you see the 'Waiting for Activation Screen', hit the menu key and the letter L key at the same time. The menu key is the top left key. By doing this, the waiting screen will go away and you will be able to make calls. For best results, hold down Menu and the L key until the Waiting for Activation screen disappears.

Please download and install Sierra Watcher. Once you have Watcher installed put the non-Cingular SIM into the card and Watcher will prompt you to enter the unlock code. Please make sure to enter the unlock code correctly.

If your phone has a "JOGDIAL" (for example SonyEricsson K700i), then you must press the "down arrow" instead of the "left arrow" for step 3 & 5. By "Down Arrow" I mean directing the Jogdial down!

1) When doing the first 5 Steps, you need to do it fast.
2) If you get NCK: (0), this means the phone is hard locked. The phone cannot be unlocked since there have been more than 5 wrong attempts.
3) If you have tried a few times and are getting 'Not Allowed', your phone cannot unlock due to too many wrong attempts made on the phone. Phone has been hardlocked.

1) Insert a T-Mobile SIM into the device.
2) From the main screen, press the Navigation key left.
